How is

Pferda is a social rehabilitation service during which all skills are trained comprehensively. Both work skills to be used on the job market and skills required for independent living.

Pferda training was founded in Náchod in January  2020 and builds upon the services provided by the Training Apartment in Rychnov nad Kněžnou and the Láry Fáry Training Cafe.

During residential rehabilitation clients learn to clean, cook, manage money, find their bearings in the community and many other activities they will need once they are living on their own. During work rehabilitation clients learn all kinds of work skills, they become familiar with the work space, learn how to communicate with customers, keep working hours and the like.

How is

Why we do it

The mission of Pferda training in Náchod is to promote independence, self-sufficiency and societal integration. The center works with outpatients in the field, meaning that clients visit the Training Apartment and the Láry Fáry Training Cafe or the workplace of their current or future employer.

We help clients improve their work and social skills and habits through lifelong learning.

We strengthen their independence and self-confidence, and strive to have them manage as many things as possible without outside assistance.

We help clients to manage as many personal matters as possible in offices, shops and for services.

Information for future clients

• There is no charge for the service.

• Initially every client signs a contract

• Every client has their own individual plan, detailing what will be learned and how

• Shifts are individual, lasting different lengths of time in the apartment, in the field and at the cafe. • There are a maximum of 2 clients during every shift.

• The client and social worker will agree on how often they will come in for Pferda training.

• Every client must be certified to work in the food industry. This certification is issued by a doctor and states that the individual can work in a cafe.

• If the client is dissatisfied with something, he or she can file a complaint.

For whom is the service intended?

For those who would like to learn how to work and find a job, or those who would like to start living on their own. We help people aged 18—64 with mild to moderately severe mental disabilities, possibly mental illness, who live in the Rychnov nad Kněžnou or Náchod area.

The total capacity of the Pferda Training Center is 20 clients.

Principles we apply to our services:

an individualized approach – we work with clients based on the way they are, what they know and what they can do

direct interaction with clients – we handle everything directly

helping clients think and work independently

equal treatment – we treat every client equally regardless of disability or social status

respecting client opinions – we create a welcoming atmosphere for mutual communication and teach clients not to be afraid to say what they think and give feedback on the work of therapists

strict adherence to human rights and basic freedoms when working with clients

And when I’ve already learned everything

If a client has already learned many work skills, in some cases it is possible to move on to sheltered employment. What is this?

This is employment based on a work contract, which means that the employee will receive a salary and will have all the rights and obligations of an ordinary employee. But at the same time, there will always be an assistant on hand to help him or her in case of emergency.

If a client gains sufficient skills necessary for independent living and has his own apartment, then he can take advantage of the “Normal Life” independent living support services. If a client learns the skills required for independent living, we can start planning his independence. Independent living is then arranged through the Normal Life service.
